About CPM Training

Construction Project Management (CPM) Trainings are among the major activities the Institute has been undertaking to fulfil its mission. The institute devised the approaches and methodological directions for the trainings on the following premise:

"Sustained change only happens when we shift at an emotional rather than at a logical level. The key point is to get under the person’s skin and touch his/her heart rather than just speak to his/her head. One can hear a good idea one hundred times and fail to make it a piece of who he/she is until he/she actually experience it viscerally – in his/her body. Only then does it rise from being just some idea to a truth to the person. That’s why so many training seminars don’t create lasting results. They fail to get into us."

The institute prepares and delivers Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Levels of practice-oriented and tailor-made trainings in the areas of construction project management, technologies and technical matters so as to support the development of the skills and knowledge of the trainees with an intention of enhancing the standard of the services in the construction industry. Annual training plans are prepared for establishing a system of proactive training deliveries.

The training management cycle of the institute involves three major steps: planning, implementation and evaluation. At the planning stage, a Training Need Assessment is conducted to determine if a training need exists and, if it does, what training is required to fill the gap.

In the course of the last 5 years of training delivery, the feedbacks received from trainees on reaction and learning levels of evaluation show that most of the participants find the training favorable, engaging and relevant to their jobs. Moreover, participants felt that the training helped them acquire the intended knowledge, skills, attitude, confidence and commitment for the job.

In the way forward, the Institute is envisaging to evaluate the effectiveness of capacity building trainings on the basis of behavior and results. This is to examine the effects of the training on the trainee's on-job performance and behavior.
