ECPMI conducted training for AACRA on construction project management

This training package tailor-made for leaders and experts consists of 17 courses covering leadership, construction project management, and technology.

Ethiopian Construction Project Management Institute - ECPMI in collaboration with Addis Ababa City Roads Authority - AACRA, has given 17 different types of training courses for 929 managers and engineers/experts. In line with the agreement made between AACRA and ECPMI, around 19 training courses were designed to provide for AACRA staff (leaders & Experts). Out of 19 training courses, 17 trainings were given between August 17 and September 25/2020.

Specifically, while the managers participated in three courses, namely; Leadership, Change Management, Team Building; the training area at the expert level mostly give emphasis on practice-oriented and tailor-made training in the areas of construction project management (CPM). And also in addition to CPM, the training package include a couple of training that touches upon the technical and technological aspect of the sector, namely; material technology of concrete and pavement. The main objectives of the training were to develop the capacity of managers and experts. And the types of training were carefully selected in accordance with the goals of the organization.

In his message to the trainee during the opening of the program, the Director General of ECPMI Eng. Asmerom Tadesse noted that the importance of the training in addressing the gaps in the current construction practice and was tailored to the needs of the trainees. He also stressed that the trainers’ for the courses are the most experienced in the sector and are well aware of the challenges facing the country's construction sector. To that extent, he was insistent that the trainee would accumulate a lot of input from the training for their prospective career.

A testament to the cooperation of AACRA and ECPMI in running and organizing the whole operation, they achieved a great mission by conducting about 17 different types of training for 929 trainees within one month. Leading to the training, AACRA Director General Eng. Moges Tibebu, in his opening remark stated that such training is essential in ensuring the current construction industry process is in line with international law and the management system, and anticipate the training can play a significant role in strengthening and growing the sector.
